Does anyone agree that "The Right Stuff" is probably one of the best "Patriotic" American movies ever made?? ?

I love this movie, it makes me proud to be an american, it shows you the resolve and ingenuity of our people, and its set to an awesome score. Or is it just me? What other movies make you feel this way? Excluding war films of course that's a no brain-er. Does anyone agree that "The Right Stuff" is probably one of the best "Patriotic" American movies ever made?? ?I would have to respectfully disagree here. Saving Private Ryan was 110% better than The Right Stuff. So was Apollo 13. That epitomized teamwork, coming together to save a doomed crew in outer space. And it's true. I remember it (not the movie) the actual events. We stayed glued to a little TV set in 1970, waiting to hear the latest and hoping and praying the crew would get home alive. The entire world held it's breath and waited on that one.

Does anyone agree that "The Right Stuff" is probably one of the best "Patriotic" American movies ever made?? ?nah.. i thought it was boring. Does anyone agree that "The Right Stuff" is probably one of the best "Patriotic" American movies ever made?? ?I enjoyed the film but I didn't find it particularly patriotic. "The Patriot" stirred me much more.

I seem to be addicted to the American pie movies. Is this a bad thing?

When I watch one of them I have to watch all of them. I need to know if this is healthy

thanks in advance.I seem to be addicted to the American pie movies. Is this a bad thing?nah, lol id say ur a pervI seem to be addicted to the American pie movies. Is this a bad thing? The DSM-IV (the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) has actually diagnosed the addiction to crappy, unfunny, and over Sean William Scott-erized teen gross out comedies as Americanpieroadtriptoplasia. It's a serious condition and I really think a mental health professional can help you come to terms with your addiction and maybe set up a treatment plan of maybe watching good movies for a change. This can actually get worse in the form of buying all the direct to dvd American Pie sequels with Eugene Levy. This advancement of Americanpieroadtriptoplasia is called Holyshityoureallypaidforthisitis. This isn't your fault! Americanpieroadtriptoplasia is a DISEASE not a choice. Remember that for the love of God!!!I seem to be addicted to the American pie movies. Is this a bad thing? No way, those movies are hilarious!

Why do american tv and movies sound canadian with out any accents?

except for a home improvement program, i have never heard an american actor sound like american where as on chat on the net you notice the difference big time? Why do american tv and movies sound canadian with out any accents?i guess it depends on the tv/movies you watch.

check out Adam Sandler's The Water Boy for some funny accents... LoL

but keep in mind, EVERYBODY has an accent. even within Canada many accents are detectable.

I think on TV (especially on the news), people try to keep the English standard, with as little regional accent as possible, so that it is easily understood by the most people. Why do american tv and movies sound canadian with out any accents?Canadian and American accents are actually very easy to distinguish in real life. On TV, when they are talking through electronic speakers, it takes away a lot of the nasal-ness and harshness that the American accents have.

American movies about terrorists vs events of 911?

In any movie about terrorists, bad guys die, and American heroes save all people and the planet

Why not in real life, right?

911 During the collapse of buildings, American men ran away and pressed his feet did not help women and elderly

You look at the actual shooting

There is only fear and cowardiceAmerican movies about terrorists vs events of 911?I don't think it's very fair to relate the word cowardice to the events of 9/11 in relation to the people who suffered, that's cowardice on your behalf.American movies about terrorists vs events of 911?Actually, a few hundred emergency workers were in the towers trying to rescue people.

What is Jello? It's always mentioned in American movies?

I'm from Australia so I'm not sure what it is.What is Jello? It's always mentioned in American movies? It's what we call jelly here in Australia. The Americans use the word "jelly" to refer to what we call "jam" so there's a bit of scope for confusion across the Atlantic. What is Jello? It's always mentioned in American movies?
It is simply a brand of flavored gelatin. It has a sort of "kitsch" value to it in America. It is not something loved by most Americans like Vegemite is loved by Aussies. It is often served as a dessert in school cafeterias to children. It is more associated now with being pored into a bundt pan with marshmallows or pineapple chunks added, then refrigerated, then served at family gatherings by people who are at least 60 years old.

Yes, it is, indeed, made from the connective tissues of animals, just as all gelatin is. That's why the Jell-O factory will not allow tours to be given to the public. It's basically a rendering plant...where they boil down the bones and skin of slaughtered animals and skim off the gelatin after it cools, then dehydrate, flavor, and package it.

The consumer then rehydrate it by dissolving it in boiling water, adds sugar, then refrigerates it until it is semi-solid before serving. While many do not like it, I don't think anyone would be disgusted by it, as it the gelatin is entirely flavorless. It tastes like whatever flavor additive it is combined with, such as cherry, grape, strawberry, and the ever popular lime. What is Jello? It's always mentioned in American movies?wow i thought everyone knew about jello. its an amazing food that is at the same time a solid and a liquid.

if you watch the movie "cloudy with a chance of meatballs", you will see some some strange and wonderful things done with jell-o.

also, people do "jell-o shots", which i believe involves vodka, but i'm not sure
It's flavored Gelatine aka flavored cow/pig bones and collagen.

Edit - (removed since the other answerer deleted/changed his answer)

Technically, Jell-O is a brand under the Kraft Foods company, that makes several kinds of dessert products. The Jell-O brand name is also put on puddings and mousses. What is Jello? It's always mentioned in American movies? It's this transparent goop that looks kind of plastic-y and jiggles when you poke it. It's mostly sugar. What is Jello? It's always mentioned in American movies?
It's pretty much like making regular Jello, except with some alcohol added instead of cold water. there called JELLO SHOTS
I'm pretty sure it's just pure unadulterated Jelly :)What is Jello? It's always mentioned in American movies?
It's a brand of gelatin.

Why is it that Korean stars are often casted as Japanese in American movies?

Like Rain.

And now BoA in the movie Cobu 3D that she's going to be in.

%26gt;_%26gt; it bothers me.Why is it that Korean stars are often casted as Japanese in American movies?Japan is popular. Corea is not. Corean is accessible in America. Japanese is not as they don't immigrate to other countries like coreans do and aren't interrested in American success and glorification like coreans doWhy is it that Korean stars are often casted as Japanese in American movies?
It's common for actors (of all colors) to be cast in roles that are different from their personal origins. That's why it's called acting. Japanese and Chinese people also get cast as Korean people. Straight people play gay people and African-Americans play Africans.

You need to understand that typically the role is written first, then it is cast. If you would like to limit casting to people who "match" the character, then Rain and Boa would not have gotten those gigs as they are not Japanese. Work is work; in other words, stop complaining. You are more than welcome to write a movie featuring Korean characters played by Korean actors. Why is it that Korean stars are often casted as Japanese in American movies?Dude. Korea, with a "K" and there are MANY Japanese people in the states. maybe not as many as Koreans, but until I see the numbers I cant be sure. On to the question...

If people don't know then it will not hurt them, right? Most people can't tell a Korean from a Japanese person and to be honest, even Koreans can't always tell. Most people can't tell a German from a Brit, or an Spaniard from a Italian. I have seen films where Germans were played by South Africans speaking Afrikaans in the film. We are talking about people coming from countries that are further apart than Africa is long. You take the actors you can get and hope no one cares. Do you mind that there are so many Canadians and Australians playing the roles of American?

You mentioned Rain. He acted in Speed Racer and it was a terrible film. It might be that they were not able to get a decent Japanese actor for the role. He is trying to make it and he has to take everything he can get. Even then, what does it matter? It is not as if he had to have conversations in Japanese. It was an English language film. As far as I know BoA speaks Japanese and worked there as a singer for a while. TShe does not look like a stereotypical Korean, so why not use her?Why is it that Korean stars are often casted as Japanese in American movies?
To a westerner, most asians look similar!

It's like you will see Austrians in German Films, and Englishmen in American FilmsWhy is it that Korean stars are often casted as Japanese in American movies?Lee Joon in MBLAQ. Well he was acting as younger rain version in the ninja assassin? You remember?
