Non Americans: Is it weird watching all your movies from an American perspective?

Im mean movies like American Gangster,Titanic, War of Worlds, etc. Pretty much everything. Most movies are set in NY or LA or some random U.S. city. If not its shot in a U.S. city. Do you notice an American slant in the movies. Does American accents annoy you in movies or are you used to them.

I just cant imagine watching all my movies where everyone had a non-American accent..Non Americans: Is it weird watching all your movies from an American perspective? You know, most films that aren't American-made aren't based in America. So... when I go to France, I watch French movies. When I go to Korea, I watch Korean movies.

World isn't centered around the United States. Non Americans: Is it weird watching all your movies from an American perspective?
i like the american accent

na it doesnt annoy me (:Non Americans: Is it weird watching all your movies from an American perspective?thats why i like watching forign films. most american films nowadays are just garbage %26amp; they are sooo biased and fake %26amp; so are the actors.
NoNon Americans: Is it weird watching all your movies from an American perspective?Well, they have subtitles, and movies that have been edited to reflect their native language,

Here's an example...

The worst thing about American movies is how the movies are ruined to emphasize the fact it is american. Point in fact take the movie Miracle on 34th Street where all the mail for Santa is delivered to the court to prove he is Santa. In the remake, yes, the remake, they had to use an American dollar instead. What is wrong with American movie makers, why do they need to stamp made in U.S.A. on all their movies, and in the films also? It must be some sort of ego thing!!!!
hollywood is actually not the only movie company in the world. They do know some big ones like titanic, herry potter and lord of the ring, but many never even saw those. And the american movies they do watch might surprise you. You might see b rated movies like old chuck norris flicks playing on the big screen in 2008 or worse wannabe old chuck norris movies like american ninja. Korean cinema is popular in much of asia. there is bollywood in India, an art form we're not into but they like very much. France makes movies. Italy made all the old spaghetti westerns which you might think are american actually shot in the grass lands of italy not the american wild west. There are russian films. Hong kong made the old kung fu movies and still makes movies as well as outsource thier stunt work to hollywood. or hollywood outsources to them i should say. I believe pans labrynth was spanish. I'm sure every major country has it's own film industry. So, it's not all thier movies. Even Saddam Hussein made a movie. It was an autobiography of sorts. They say it's a lot like scarface. I do want to see it but don't know where. Non Americans: Is it weird watching all your movies from an American perspective?
Im from the UK and love american film dramas/sitcoms etc. America have always and will always have bigger and better budgets to spend, hence why you have Huge stars.

the language doesnt bother me, although and american trying to to and English accent does sounds kinda strange lol :)
no, not really as most are written by British people

whats it like watching it from a white perspective
Well, we call this cultural imperialism, son. The sad thing about it is that most people actually believe that America is much as Hollywood depicts it. So, they know about New York, from the Woody Allen films, and Crossing Delauncey etc., and they know about California. I had a huge shock when I went to live in Texas in 1977!! These days things have improved. Some films are shot in the American provinces, like No COuntry for Old Men, and Fargo. Moreover, America these days is a much more multicultural place. Even so, the predominant redneck culture of much of the USA does not get a proportional airing in the American media. Moreover, because of the Jewish influence in the media, Arabs an Arab Americans are still portrayed in a fundamentally racist way. Oh, and leave the French alone!! Just because they had the guts to avoid a war East of Suez, there is no needto keep making drogatorycomments aout them, as inNCIS and elsewhere. 'Up against the wall, redneck mother.....' Itis also worth noting that Hllywood films are still aimed primary at acne-riden American teenagers aged 15 or so, and thse would seem to constitute the voting population of California.
In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised watching all movies where everyone had a non-American accent..

Sometime it's good to see in their movies that they’ve done a fine job of adding their own slant to it. it's getting used to them.

Anyway now a days who cares the American slant as long as the movie has a base story.
We all know our country is controlled by the media. And American media is pretty much American oriented.

My cousins in Vietnam enjoy watching US movies so much and they don't have any annoyance with American Accent. They even use them as a "tool" to practice their American accent. LOL

Well, it's cool this way; but if American media is a little bit more open to the world outside of the US, that would change the young generation's point of view so much.
I avoid Hollywood films ("movie" is itself an Americanism!) that don't tell it like it is. I have no problem with American actors playing American characters using American accents, but I do object to hearing the words of Shakespeare uttered in an American accent, or of someone supposedly portraying Robin Hood using a foreign accent.
Yes, it gets on my nerves and I try to avoid it.

War Of The Worlds was set in Surrey. The fact that the film sets it in New York made absolutely sure I wouldn't watch it.

The worst are war/historical films which tend to lie and/or exaggerate about America's role in conflicts in the 20th century. If the citizens of the USA want to believe their country won both world wars by themselves, that's fine, but telling everyone else lies is not really on.
nope. i watch american movies...im from switzerland, i speak 2 languages.....now for you guys who dont understand french or german......hahahha now thats funny.
Americans are not the only producers of movies and my preference is for British films and am not interested in the big blockbuster movies. Of course I see some American movies but not exclusively.
Germans watch all American movies and films in German. Everything. I just saw Big Mama's House in German, and it was so odd that it was hilarious.
Well, there are films from other countries, my friend. I happen to have seen many British films for example, some French ones, well, you get my point I suppose.

It's obtrusively obvious how US films always try to reproduce their cultural values with things like the ever present flag, at least coming out as part of the background. I think it'd be interesting if they were somehow more neutral.

American accents don't vex me, if that's what you're asking. Americans have distinctive accents and each one of them has some interesting qualities. What I do find annoying is that excessive use of exaggerated r+ tone young people make
