except for a home improvement program, i have never heard an american actor sound like american where as on chat on the net you notice the difference big time?Why do american tv and movies sound canadian with out any accents?i guess it depends on the tv/movies you watch.

but keep in mind, EVERYBODY has an accent. even within Canada many accents are detectable.
I think on TV (especially on the news), people try to keep the English standard, with as little regional accent as possible, so that it is easily understood by the most people.Why do american tv and movies sound canadian with out any accents?Canadian and American accents are actually very easy to distinguish in real life. On TV, when they are talking through electronic speakers, it takes away a lot of the nasal-ness and harshness that the American accents have.
