Do you think australians in american made movies over do their accent?

In the movie Australia, Crocodile Dundee, STEVE ERWIN.. etc. Do you think they overdo their accent really making us Australians look like (in my eyes) really weird and they make us out to be stereotypes. Its like thinking a koala is a bear..!

Only not as Ocker, Strine or Bushy Queenslander accented like broad accents in the movies you mentioned.

i've always though that too, australians in american movies create horrible accent stereotypes for the rest of us

it possible that they put it on to make it more interesting and to make the contrast in accents stronger, it could be the director that tells them to do this

it could be because they're surrounded by american accent the australian accent automatically stands out cause it's so different

when i go to america i notice how strong my accent is a lot more

The accent is likable, so it sells. I don't see it as stereotyping though. It's not a personality flaw.
I don't really know. But yes I do agree with you, there's no denying that their accents could play a part in how they become so succesful in movies. A lot of people think that the Aussie accent is sexy, so there could be some Aussie actors who may play their accents a bit up and down coz they know many people like to hear it. But I personally think that as long they don't do it to degenerate Australians as a whole, then I see nothing wrong with it. Yeah i reckon they do to an extent. But then again ive heard some Aussies with a very strong accent.
