I am researching true American crime that has been the basis for a movie or a book. It is for an extended project in college. I am beginning with movies and books based upon organised crime, gang crime, and serial killers. I am gathering real case studies from TV, my library and the internet. It would be a help if anybody could give me any movies or books they know of that I may have missed. It would be more beneficial if they were way out or fairly unknown, but they must be based upon true crime.True American crime that has influenced movies and books? How about the Public enemies. It is about John Dillinger a gangster. It really is a good read and beautiful to narrate. It got style.True American crime that has influenced movies and books?elizabeth bathory. shes hard to get solud information on. she was a serial killer obsessed with youth, killed servent girls and washed in their blood, drank their blood, even ate pueces of them after one day slapping a young girl, when she went to wipe off the blood she thought her hand looked younger. im looking at her as the killer, not the myth, like when she was found dead, she hadnt aged, blah. she inspired legends of vampers, influenced bram stoker who had plenty to go on because of another serial killer, vlad the impaler, but theyre never really called serial killers because they were royalty and could order people to do the killing for them to procure what they wanted/needed. theres a scrne in hostile 2 where a wiman is laying under a girlvshes cutting in order to get the blood on her. there are nimerous references that can be linked to her history and mytholigy. this probably doesnt help at all, does it? i was trying to think, "RARE" but anyway, good luck.True American crime that has influenced movies and books?Well there's; The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Psycho, Deranged, The Light of the Moon, The silence of the Lambs were all inspired by Ed Gein.
