Why did Disney jump ship on the Narnia movies?

Don't they realize that the reason Prince Caspian didn't make much money is because of how much they strayed from the books? If they would simply make them true to the books then the movies would do great!

I know, it's way stupid. Disney has seen a major downward trend in the success of the Narnia movies. Although Prince Caspian made them a large profit, it made almost $400 million less than Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe. That is a huge drop. Most people think it was because Prince Caspian opened as a summer movie rather than a holiday movie. It was competing against Indiana Jones, Batman, etc. Some also think that Disney didn't market Prince Caspian as well as the first movie. Disney is worried that Voyage of the Dawn Treader would make even less money and so on and so forth.

I still love Disney and I still LOVE Narnia, but this is quite upsetting. To me, Disney and Narnia were both huge parts of my childhood and together they are pure magic. I have a lot of faith in Walden Media, and I hope whoever takes over for Disney doesn't lessen the magic that Walden and Disney had going on. I really hope the movies make it to The Last Battle.Why did Disney jump ship on the Narnia movies?
Name one great Disney movie that isn't a cartoon in the past 20 years.. Also, look at the fact that they pump out 15+ crappy movies a year for the past 10 years. That is really all disney is good at. 15+ flops with one decent flick in there. I believe if high school musical failed, they would be out of business. They will Milk that cow as long as they can. But to answer you question. It's Disney, they only care about making a quick buck, and will cut any corner they can, or change any plot line to be more "appealing", to do so.

Most of the time stories are changed when movies are made out of books. I haven't seen the new narnia though so I can't say on how much they changed it though.
