Why do American movies show a lot of sex?

I have seen a lot of American movies and many of them have sexual situations involved. From action movies to drama, they all have these. Even cartoons like The Simpsons, Family Guy and American Dad have many episodes depicting sex. Why is this so common with American media?Why do American movies show a lot of sex?It is not common in the East, since others are asking.



Sex is give more importance in the West.

People won't get married if they don't have good sex...they decide compatibility that way.

Everyone is interested to lose their virginity since the age of 12, because it is cool.

Sex is everywhere...in toilets, bars, hotels and movies.



That is why they show it in the American and the European movies.

It's the way they live.



But as an Easterner, I can say that the East is different.

It's all about culture and religion.

In our part of the world, sex is bad...it is bad to have sex before marriage and sex is only meant for reproduction. It spoils people.

Parents don't talk about sex, and there is no proper sex education, because people are ashamed to even talk about it.



This is why they don't show sex scenes in the East.



BUT if you see Bollywood movies now, they have sex just about anywhere...in a movie, Kamasutra, oh dear...first time ever a girl has shown her breasts!



Even the East is following on the Western style...you can see that from the clothing.

And people are having sex before marriage too.



So very soon, there won't be much difference in the Western and Eastern movies.

well it's true.. sex really does sell.. movies want ratings.. and they wouldn't have kept sex scenes in the movies and tv shows if it wasn't selling.. film is a business.. the primary thing is money... and sex is obviously providing money in big people's pockets!



on another note.. it is a normal part of people's lives.. at least they're being realistic.. it's way better than the movies on some channels that cut the sex scenes or even cut a scene where there is kissing.. is it realistic that a loving couple never kisses?? some movies do show that by cutting such scenes..Why do American movies show a lot of sex?isn't stuff like this more common in other countries?

the best answer to this is that: sex sells. simple as that.

want to know the #1 excuse i heard guys wanted to go see the movie WANTED? coz you get to see angelina jolie's butt. what a horrible reason to get the ratings on that movie going. internet's free without the horrible excuse for a 2 hour film surrounding it.
As an American I have often wondered this myself. I kind of wondered for a while if I was just offended because I'm gay and just really have no interest in watching Keanu Reeves get busy with that pretty women in the Matrix. But really, I am just tired of all the sex. I mean I have porns and I will watch them when the mood strikes me, but while I'm watching a high budget movie I have to say, as I am fast fowarding, I tend to get a bit offended. I mean partly that these scenes are always only straight couples, but bottom line? Do I really want to see it? No.

Then there is the irony. America seems to pride itself on it's freedom of culture while I am a gay man who never finds myself needing to fastforward through man on man scenes, even if I wanted to. We are supposed to be all about equality, right? There is that whole Constitution thing.

Let me just say for the record- If you ever see an American visiting your country, please do not be hostile.
