like for instance they wil say my number is 236555 or 55546555. Ive noticed that is it local code or do they say it in case they identify anyones real number? Why in American movies do the phone numbers have a lot of 5s in them?because if they used real #'s that person could get numerous unwanted callsWhy in American movies do the phone numbers have a lot of 5s in them?
The 555 prefix is not used for any telephone service customers. You will not find any 555-xxxx phone numbers. They are safe to use in fiction so the producers don't get sued. Actually, I think a few telephone service (internal) numbers have a 555- prefix, but they are very few.
The song Jenny Jenny (Tommy Tutone) featured the # 867-5309 and people still get calls from strangers at that phone number.
The alternative in older movies is a KL5- prefix. (KL5 = 555). It's the same, but just not as obvious.
It is no different from a novelist using a non-existent street address. Why in American movies do the phone numbers have a lot of 5s in them? Here are the facts:
For years the movie industry (in an effort to preserve realism) used possible real numbers ( they cant get sued thats they have so much writing at the very end of the movie). By possible real numbers I mean numbers they made up but could actually be real. The obvious problem is that moviegoers that became enamored with the movie started dialing numbers of their favorite characters after the movie was over. Eventually, after millions of complaints and threats (of course none were substantiated) the movie industry adopted the 555 prefix. Some directors and producers still abhor the 555 prefix because it can take away from what they call the "movie-going" experience.
Actually the 555 prefix does exist and it's reserved for directory assistance (1-area code-555-1212). They never use 555-1212 in the movies though and all the other numbers are permanently unassigned. The issue here's a legal one and if they just made up a number and people got calls they would be potentially liable.

http://kingcobrapoker.comWhy in American movies do the phone numbers have a lot of 5s in them?If I recall corrrectly.
A telephone number was given in the movie 'Bruce Almighty'
It was supossed to be a direct line to God.
It was in fact a direct line to a private address in Manchester UK.
Anyway, to answer your question.
555 does not exist as an area or state code in the USA.Why in American movies do the phone numbers have a lot of 5s in them?
Because Americans unlike real people are easily confused. To allow phone usage to be an easier process, multiple fives are introduced as they can look at their hands and count their fingers and therefore can remember the number 5.
It's so that everybody knows that it's a fake number and idiots don't start phoning it.Why in American movies do the phone numbers have a lot of 5s in them?
because 555 dosnt exist
because there are no such nu. in the real world, other wise morons would be tryin to call
because they are like computers they only understand the language of five's
