Is it a bad idea to bring my big expensive camera to disney world?

is it safe to bring a big dslr (nikon d40) to disney world?

I know that all (is it every ride?) rides have a place to put bags, but will my incredibly expensive camera really be safe in those? I know it wouldnt fall out, but i dont want to have to be worried about keeping an eye on it thru out the entire ride.

So, is it safe?

Also would it be safe for islands of adventure? Is it a bad idea to bring my big expensive camera to disney world?
Your camera will be fine if you keep it in your bag and keep your bag with you. You can take it on the ride with you provided you keep it zipped and secured to you.
It is safe to bring your Professional camera to Walt DIsney WOrld.

Everyone brings one all the time because DIsney is the place where you need the best photos.

You'll feel just right there.

You can have someone to watch your camera or you can keep it safe along with your stroller. Or you can keep it in your locker, but it will be a waste of time.

About Islands of Adventure, I don't know, people there are not as nice as people in DIsney. Is it a bad idea to bring my big expensive camera to disney world?
My wife has a digital SLR with several lenses with more than I want to think about. She had the same concerns as you about the safety of the camera and was also concerned that she really wanted to lug the monsterous thing around with her all week during our trip. She went out and bought a fairly inexpensive ($200) small point and shoot 8 megapixel digital camera. She could easily carry it around in her pocket fanny pack. It took very good snapshots and still portraits in front some of the attractions. Consider going that route.
I would hold it on rides and not put it down anywhere. If you are cool with doing that, than it won't be a problem. Some rides do have bags, but stuff gets jostled around, and I would keep it on me. Probably you just need a strap on the camera or bag which you can drape over your head and shoulder on rides, and you will be fine.

Islands is trickier, because they have a few rides which they will NOT let you do this on. But you can use a free locker for one hour outside these rides. Is it a bad idea to bring my big expensive camera to disney world?
It all depends on the weather, what you're going to be doing, and where you're going to be taking your shots. When your walking around you can put it around your neck with a strap, and when you're on a ride you can put it in a locker. Almost all of the rides have lockers because it is just another way to make money. Just don't worry and remember to have fun. It'll be safe.
Your camera should be OK at DW. People bring pro cameras all the time because there are lots of pic opportunities. Just hold on to it like you would any place else. If you have to, you can rent a locker at any of the parks. Haven't been IOA, so I don't have any advice for you there.
Most of the 'wilder' rides to have placed to keep your things, although it does not protect them from being jostled around. Just make sure you don't drop your expensive camera on the sidewalk of Hollywood Studios, breaking it....like someone I know did. :(
yes, its safe. If your still worried about leaving it alone on rides or getting it stolen bring a carrying case. or you can ask if the person conducting the ride can watch it.
