I heard that the Mighty Ducks were created by Disney after the Mighty Ducks movie. Is it true? Because I think that's just a great big middle finger to the NHL.Is it true the Mighty Ducks were founded by Disney to advertise their movie?
yeah
How is it a great middle finger to the NHL?
E-mail me and tell me.
Jonny is talking about the wrong hockey team
The club was founded in 1993 by The Walt Disney Company as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, a name based on the 1992 film The Mighty Ducks. Disney sold the franchise in 2005 to Henry %26amp; Susan Samueli, who changed the name of the team to the Anaheim Ducks before the 2006鈥?7 season. Is it true the Mighty Ducks were founded by Disney to advertise their movie?
yes they were. disney owned the newly formed franchise, and chose the name mighty ducks, after their popular movie series and animated tv show of the time. when disney sold the team, they kept the name "mighty ducks", so the new ownership renamed the team the ducks so as not to completely break with the team's traditions. ironically, it was the first team to play w/o the mighty on their jersey who were the mightiest, winning the franchise's only cup. another fact to note, their rink was originally named the arrowhead pond. though it's now the honda center, fans still call it the pond
no.the aneheim ducks are a team that hapenn to have a team from a movie named after themIs it true the Mighty Ducks were founded by Disney to advertise their movie?
Basically. How stupid is that. They have no real reason to exist....however, that movie did do a lot for Hockey. I remember an explosion of interest after it came out, and I am old enough to remembr that. I was a kid at the time.
Nah. The movies had been out for years and were well established before Disney landed a hockey franchise.
%26gt; I think that's just a great big middle finger to the NHL.
Excuse moi, but nobody gives a ____ what you think. The team has existed since 1993. Yes, Disney had made a movie about a team w/the same name. They've won the shimmery SC. The movies helped create a great deal of attention to hockey. It's called advertising and promoting the sport. The NHL needs all the help it can get. Two lockouts in ~10 yrs did NOT help the sport. Now, that's beyond a middle finger.
After Disney sold the team the name was changed to the Anaheim Ducks.
no its just a myth.
