Which horror movies are scarier: American or Asian?

The only really scary American movies I've watched were The Sixth Sense, The Grudge, and the Exorcist.

I've watched some Asian scary movies, and they are scarier.. one is The Hometown Legends.. they seem like true stories to me.Which horror movies are scarier: American or Asian?I've gotta lean toward Asian horror, because ( to me) it's more about the atmosphere than the gore or action. The atmosphere sets up the potential gore or result of a situation depicted or not....It's the Alfred Hitchcock thing of the audience knowing there's a bomb in a room about to go off, but the people in the room don't have a clue about what's going to happen. That's far far scarier than just showing a room full of people blowing up. (They didn't call him the master of suspense for nothing). And today, I think Asian films are for the most part very good to excellent at creating that kind of tension. That doesn't belie the fact that there are still plenty of American films that do that very well indeed (6th Sense a good example), but it's my perception that there are more Asian (than American) movies now days that are doing that..... ;-)Which horror movies are scarier: American or Asian?
Asian scary movies WERE scarier until they kept on using a female character with long black hair in front of her face in EVERY movie. it got old.
but asian movies are definitely creepy.
but they're very slow paced.

i like to be thrilled.
so i prefer american. although no "horror" movie scares me anymore. the american ones aren't necessarily scary anymore...but they are entertaining.

i liked the American version of the Ring way better than the japanese one. for one, it scared me. and it was more fast pace.
i do love a lot of asian horrors too.Which horror movies are scarier: American or Asian? It depends. If it's between specifically Japanese Horror and American Horror, strangely, I believe they're neck and neck now. I might have said J-Horror some years ago, but Japanese horror, I now see, has become just (in general) as formulaic as American horror now. I say this being not the greatest judge of horror movies (by far) but this is, I believe, is undeniable.

So I say Japan and America are about the same now.
Asian films.

American has super strict rules of regulations. If a horror film wants to get into mainstream theatres it has to follow the rules. But in Asian countries, it's not the same.Which horror movies are scarier: American or Asian?I can't say which is more scary as I dont usually get fear from movies. But...Asian movies tend to be more original but I prefer American movies because of more effects.Which horror movies are scarier: American or Asian?
I agree its about half and half but generally I lean more towards foreign in general not just Asian horror. A note on your comment on the Ring it is a remake of a Japanese movie Ringu.
American horror has more terrifying stories.

Asian has more terrifying images.Which horror movies are scarier: American or Asian?
Asian horror - Also The grudge is a remake of Ju-on (Japnenese),.
Asian horror tends to be far more f*cked up, typically.
I guess Asian movies are far-far scarier than the American ones!
American ,as they spend more money for special effects
I prefer American.
